With a career spanning investment banking, private equity, and energy infrastructure, Leslie Nelson is an accomplished executive, entrepreneur, and investor. He began his career at Merrill Lynch and UBS before moving into senior roles at General Electric, where he led GE Africa’s power division and served as Country CEO for Ghana, overseeing more than $1B in deployed investment capital. He later joined New Fortress Energy as Managing Director for Africa and a member of the global leadership team, contributing to the company’s successful IPO in 2019. In 2021, Leslie founded an energy transition business focused on decarbonization and accessible energy solutions in Africa, forming a strategic joint venture with one of the continent’s largest private equity firms. Beyond his executive career, Leslie has served on advisory boards and as an independent director for organizations across Africa, Europe, and the U.S. An avid golfer and family man, he brings a global perspective, deep industry expertise, and a commitment to sustainable growth.
